A Custom E-commerce Experience Built Around the Brand
A custom-designed headless webshop combining a Next.js storefront with Ominity as the commerce backbone for a fast, flexible and tailored shopping experience.
Description
AdroitGoods needed an e-commerce platform that could be shaped around its brand and products rather than the limitations of a predefined webshop theme or storefront.
Wizzou designed the complete shopping experience in Figma and developed a custom headless storefront using Next.js, with Ominity providing the commerce functionality and Laravel-powered services behind the experience. The result was a webshop where the customer-facing experience and underlying commerce platform could evolve independently.
Where the Challenge Began
More Than a Standard Webshop
Off-the-shelf e-commerce platforms make it possible to launch quickly, but their predefined themes and structures can become restrictive when the experience needs to closely follow a brand or accommodate more specific requirements.
AdroitGoods needed the freedom to determine how products were presented, how customers moved through the webshop and how the overall experience reflected the brand without being constrained by the frontend of a traditional commerce platform.
At the same time, building a completely custom storefront should not mean rebuilding fundamental commerce functionality such as products, orders, customers and payments from scratch.
The challenge was to combine the freedom of custom development with a reliable commerce foundation behind it.
From Challenge to Solution
Custom at the Front. Structured Behind It.
Wizzou designed the complete e-commerce experience in Figma before translating the designs into a custom Next.js storefront.
Rather than coupling the customer experience directly to a traditional webshop frontend, the application was built headlessly. Next.js was responsible for the public shopping experience while Ominity provided the underlying commerce capabilities and APIs required by the storefront.
This separation gave the project considerably more freedom at the frontend. Pages, product presentation and interactions could be developed around the needs of AdroitGoods instead of adapting the design to an existing theme system.
Behind the storefront, Ominity provided a centralized environment for managing the commerce operation, including products, customers and orders. Laravel-powered backend functionality and integrations connected the different parts of the platform while keeping business logic away from the presentation layer.
The resulting architecture combined a completely custom customer experience with a reusable and extensible commerce foundation.
What Our Approach Delivered
A Webshop Without the Template
AdroitGoods received an e-commerce platform designed specifically around its brand rather than a customized version of an existing storefront theme.
The headless architecture kept the customer-facing application independent from the underlying commerce platform, giving Wizzou greater control over performance, design and functionality while Ominity handled the operational side of e-commerce.
It also demonstrated the value of the platform approach behind Ominity: custom digital experiences can be developed without repeatedly rebuilding the commerce infrastructure underneath them.
The result was a tailored webshop spanning design, frontend development and backend commerce as one integrated project.
