Building the Platform Behind Digital Business
A modular platform built by Wizzou to power commerce, content, customer management, payments, automation and custom digital experiences from one flexible foundation.
Description
Many of the digital platforms we build require the same fundamental capabilities: managing content, customers, products, orders, payments and integrations. Existing platforms often provided part of that functionality, but introduced limitations as projects became more complex.
Wizzou created Ominity as its own modular platform to provide a flexible foundation for these projects. What started as an internal solution evolved into a platform capable of powering complete e-commerce environments, websites and custom applications while remaining adaptable to the requirements of each business.

Where the Challenge Began
When Off-the-Shelf Platforms Become the Limitation
Modern digital projects rarely exist in isolation. Commerce needs to communicate with payments, accounting, customer data, content, subscriptions, shipping providers and increasingly complex business processes.
Using separate systems for each responsibility often creates fragmented data and requires increasingly complicated integrations to keep everything synchronized. At the same time, traditional e-commerce and CMS platforms can become restrictive when a project requires workflows or experiences outside their intended use cases.
Wizzou needed a foundation that could be reused across projects without forcing every customer into the same predefined structure.
From Challenge to Solution
One Foundation, Built to Adapt
Wizzou designed and developed Ominity as a modular platform that combines commerce, content management, customer management and operational functionality within a single ecosystem.
The platform supports products, orders, customers, subscriptions, invoicing, payments, shipping, content and other business data while exposing functionality through APIs that can power completely custom frontends and applications.
A modular architecture allows functionality to be introduced depending on the requirements of each implementation rather than forcing every project into the same configuration. Rules and automation capabilities can connect processes across the platform and reduce repetitive operational work.
Ominity was also designed as an integration platform. Payment providers, accounting systems, shipping services and external applications can be connected while keeping the platform responsible for the underlying business logic and data.
This architecture allows Wizzou to start new projects from a proven technical foundation while retaining the freedom normally associated with completely custom software.
What Our Approach Delivered
A Platform Behind Multiple Digital Businesses
Ominity has evolved from an internal development project into a core part of Wizzou's technology stack and now powers production platforms across different industries and use cases.
Instead of rebuilding common commerce and operational functionality for every project, Wizzou can focus development on the parts that make each business unique. Customers benefit from custom experiences without requiring every underlying capability to be developed from scratch.
The platform continues to evolve alongside the businesses running on it, providing Wizzou with a reusable foundation for increasingly sophisticated digital products.
